New York: Macmillan, 1921. First American edition. 59 pp. Embossed and decorated paper boards over blue cloth backstrip, spine lettered in gilt, with the dust jacket. Minor spot to rear board, bookplate. Jacket is chipped with some loss to top edge, front and rear flap detached at crease. Rare in any jacket. Mew's first book, published in England in 1916 as The Farmer's Bride. This American edition corresponds with the second, expanded edition of The Farmer's Bride published by the Poetry Bookshop in 1921. In her time Mew was praised by Hardy, Sassoon, and Virginia Woolf, who called her "very good and interesting and quite unlike anyone else." Item #1757
