Crosses of Gold. Caresse Crosby.

Crosses of Gold

Paris: Albert Messein, 1925. Revised and expanded edition, "nouvelle édition augmentée." Parchment spine backstrip over pale blue paper-covered boards, lettered in gilt on front cover and spine, with the dust jacket. iii, 69 pp. Hand-colored frontispiece landscape, "Daybreak: Ile Saint-Louis" by Daniel-Girard. Interior hinges fragile, slight foxing to edges. Jacket has some minor edgewear to the top with a short closed tear. A nice copy of a fragile book. In Minkoff's Black Sun Press bibliography, he notes a glassine jacket but not a printed one (A2b). It's possible Crosby had it printed to add to the book's promotion following the good review in Poetry London printed here, dated September 1925. The jacket is extremely rare and almost unseen.
