Boards rubbed at extremities and corners. A charming little collection of Russian fairy tales focused on bears, including works by Tolstoy, Pushkin, and others. The translators, a couple until Harrison's death in 1928, were women of great achievement; Harrison as a classical scholar, Mirrlees as the author of the modernist poem Paris and the novel Lud-in-the-Mist, among other works. Rachel "Ray" Garnett was the wife of David Garnett, co-publisher of the press. Item #1987
