Basel: Edition Fanal, 1985. First edition. 25 folded sheets ([50] leaves), issued unbound, in publisher’s printed chemise and slipcase. Very slightest sunning to edges of slipcase and spine of chemise, else fine, contents fine.

One of eighty-nine numbered copies, signed by Oppenheim, of a total edition of 103 copies. A collection of twenty-three poems, in German and French, inspired by the correspondence between two major figures of German romanticism, Karoline von Günderrode and Bettina Brentano von Arnim. With twenty-one etchings in black and white and color, and two blind-embossed spreads. Oppenheim’s final book; it was published on November 15, 1985, the day she died, of a heart attack, at the age of seventy-two.
