First American edition, translated by Kay Boyle and with a foreword by Aldous Huxley, of Radiguet's first novel, originally published in French in 1923 as Le Diable au Corps. 228 pp. A clean, tight, copy, endpapers slightly browned and edges spotted, in a jacket which is fairly rubbed and slightly chipped at the head and foot of the spine, which is browned. Radiguet's mentor Jean Cocteau called this book "a masterpiece of promise" after its author died at the age of twenty of typhoid fever in 1923. Near Fine / very good. Item #366
