Los Angeles: The Press of the Pegacycle Lady, 1974. 21 pp. Paper boards, lettered on the front board and spine, with Berman’s image mounted to the front board. The single sewn signature is loose but holding, some minor old staining to rear board. Of a total edition of 500 numbered copies, this is one of the first 100 in boards, signed by Hirschman.
The publisher/printer Victoria Dailey wrote, “We all loved the French late-19th century poets–Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Mallarmé–and Jack did a beautiful translation of Mallarmé’s prose-poem Igitur, which was also the first translation into English. We knew Wallace Berman, who was also into the same visionary sort of stuff, and he supplied the evocative cover illustration.”. Item #2597
